Perseverance of the Saints teaches that all who are truly saved will continue in faith until the end. This is not based on human effort alone but on God’s sustaining and preserving power. Those whom God has called and justified, He will also glorify (Romans 8:30). Salvation is secure because it rests on God’s faithfulness, not on our own.
Jesus assured His followers, saying, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:28). This promise is a foundation for confidence. When we belong to Christ, we are held securely by Him. Nothing and no one can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38–39).
Paul also writes, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). Perseverance of the Saints also means that those who fall away from the faith were never truly saved. The Bible teaches that some may profess faith but later abandon it (1 John 2:19). True believers will endure because God preserves them.
Knowing that our salvation is secure in God’s hands brings great comfort. It frees us from fear and self-doubt, encouraging us to trust God’s faithfulness and to live in confident hope. This assurance motivates perseverance, not complacency, as we rely daily on God’s strength to live for Him until the day we meet Christ.
